Modern Slavery Statement

Our statement on
modern slavery

This statement sets out the steps B&O Insurance has taken to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.

Our commitment

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps taken by British and Overseas Insurance Company Limited to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in its business and supply chains during the financial year.

We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships.

Our business and supply chains

B&O Insurance is a leading diversified insurer operating in the UK, Ireland and Canada. Our supply chains include IT services, professional services, claims handling and facilities management.

We require our suppliers to comply with our supplier code of conduct, which prohibits modern slavery and human trafficking.

Policies and due diligence

Our policies include a modern slavery policy, supplier code of conduct, whistleblowing policy and human rights approach.

We conduct risk assessments of new and existing suppliers, and require high-risk suppliers to complete self-assessment questionnaires.

Training and awareness

All colleagues involved in procurement and supplier management receive training on modern slavery and how to identify potential indicators.

We raise awareness across the group through internal communications and our annual risk and compliance training.

Reporting concerns

Colleagues and suppliers can report concerns through our confidential whistleblowing line, SpeakUp, available 24/7.

We take all reports seriously and investigate them thoroughly.
